About Swing Era Orchestra
The Swing Era Orchestra plays popular and danceable music from the early and middle days of the Big Band Era - specializing in the period from 1934 through the end of WWII. This begins with the music made popular in Astaire/Rogers movies by composers such as Irving Berlin and the Gershwins, and continues on to the well-known hits by bands like Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Harry James, and the Dorseys. Although all of this music is best enjoyed from the dance floor, we are happy to play for concerts, or provide “period” ambiance for whatever occasion or event you have in mind. In addition to swing, lindy, balboa, etc., the SEO also plays other popular dance styles including ballads, waltzes, and latins.
